On April 4, 2022, Mayor Lamar Thorpe announced new proposals to incentive police recruitment and hiring for the City of Antioch as well as a proposal to over-hire police officers to 125 to maintain the authorized 115 level.
The proposed measure is as follows:
For lateral recruits- a $40,000.00 structured signing bonus that’s paid out over a period of 3 years.
The first $20,000.00 tranche comes upon signing on with the Antioch Police Department;
The second $10,000.00 tranche comes upon completion of the officer’s 1-year probationary period; and
The third $10,000.00 tranche comes upon completing year 3 at APD.
For Academy recruits- a $40,000.00 structured signing bonus that’s paid out over a period of 3 years.
First $20,000.00 tranche comes upon signing on with the Antioch Police Department;
Second $10,000.00 tranche comes upon completion of the officer’s 1 year probationary period; and
Third $10,000.00 tranche comes upon completing year 3 at APD.

$60,000.00 down payment assistance towards a home in Antioch.
